Holdsworth, William (1871–1943)

English jurist. Holdsworth was a fellow of St John's College, Oxford University from 1897, and was made Vinerian professor of English law at Oxford University in 1922. His principal works include History of English Law and Some Makers of English Law. In 1927 he was appointed a member of the Indian States Inquiry Committee. He was educated at Dulwich College and New College, Oxford University.
