Holland, Jools (1958– )

English pop musician and television presenter. A piano player, he is a fine exponent of the New Orleans boogie-woogie tradition. He worked with the successful band Squeeze 1974–80 and 1985–90, and formed his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra in 1994. His high profile as a presenter of music programmes has been gained on The Tube, Juke Box Jury, and Later... with Jools Holland. Recent film work includes Spiceworld the Movie (1998) and Hunting Venus (1999).

Holland was born in London, and learned to play the piano as a child. During his break from Squeeze, he formed the Millionaires, and then went solo in 1983.
