hollyhock

Tall flowering plant belonging to the mallow family. A. rosea, originally a native of Asia, produces spikes of large white, yellow, pink, or red flowers, 3 m/10 ft high when cultivated as a biennial; it is a popular cottage garden plant. (Genus Althaea, family Malvaceae.)
