Holm, Richard (1912-1988)

German tenor. In 1948 he joined the Munich Staatsoper and first sang at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London, in 1953 as David, a role he had also sung on his debut at the New York Metropolitan Opera House in 1952. A fine Wagner singer, he also excelled in Mozart. His roles included Flamand in the first British Capriccio (1953), Belmonte, Tamino, and Aschenbach.
