Holman, Eugene

Holman, Eugene (1895-1962)

US oil executive, he spent his career in the oil industry. From 1919 he worked for Standard Oil Company of New Jersey. As president 1944-60 and chairman and chief executive 1954-60 he launched the company (later Exxon) as a major player in the Middle East by buying a share of the Saudi Arabian oil fields.

Born in San Angelo, Texas, he trained as a geologist.
