    0.12 sec.

Holmes à Court, (Michael) Robert (Hamilton) (1937-1990)

Australian entrepreneur. At the peak of his financial strength, before the stock-market crash in 1987, he was the richest individual in Australia.

Holmes à Court owned 30% of Broken Hill Proprietary, Australia's biggest company; 10% of Texaco; and had substantial media, transport, and property interests. His personal fortune of about $1.3 billion/£555 million halved in a matter of weeks after the stock-market crash. Having sold his master company, the Bell Group, to Alan Bond in 1988, he retired to being a private investor.
