Holmes County

Administrative district in east-central Ohio; area 1,098 sq km/424 sq mi, population (1990) 32,800. The county is intersected by Killbuck Creek and the Walhonding River. Its seat is at Millersburg, where some manufacturing industry is located. However, the county is predominantly rural, with the economy based on dairy, grain, and livestock farming. Natural resources here include coal, gravel, and sandstone.
