Holt, John (Caldwell) (1923–1985)

US educational reformer. A teacher turned writer and lecturer, his best-selling How Children Fail 1964 and How Children Learn 1967 called for educational reform to nurture children's creativity. In the 1970s Holt became a leader in the home-schooling movement.

He was born in New York City.
