Holtsville

Unincorporated village in Brookhaven town, Suffolk County, southeastern New York State; population (1990) 15,000. Holtsville is situated in central Long Island, 8 km/5 mi north of Patchogue. Primarily a residential area, it also is the site of a processing centre for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
