Holycross

Village in County Tipperary, Republic of Ireland, 32 km/20 mi northeast of Tipperary town; population (2002) 610. The parish church is the restored Holycross Abbey. The district is very fertile, with good pasture land.

Some 10 km/6 mi east of Holycross are the ruins of two churches on the site of the monastery of Liathmore, founded by St Mochoeniog in the 6th century.
