Holzmair, Wolfgang (1952– )

Austrian baritone. He studied in Vienna and has appeared throughout Germany and Austria as a song recitalist. He has performed in England since 1990, including Schwanengesang in 1993 with Imogen Cooper. He sang with the Bern Opera from 1985, as Valentin, Orpheus, and Eugene Onegin (1991). His early music repertory includes Ireo in Cesti's Semiramide at Innsbruck (1988) and Peri's Orfeo at Wuppertal. He is a leading exponent of Mozart's Papageno, which he sang at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London in 1993.
