    0.01 sec.

Hommage à Delacroix

Painting by the French artist Henri Fantin-Latour 1864 (Louvre, Paris). The work is of great documentary interest because grouped around a portrait of Eugène Delacroix (who had died 1863) are leading artists and writers of the period.

The painters are Edouard Manet (standing at right), Bracquemond (to Manet's right), James Whistler (leaning on his cane in the centre), and Alphonse Legros (to Whistler's left). Fantin-Latour portrays himself palette in hand. The writers, seated, are Champfleury (centre), Charles Baudelaire (at right), and Duranty (left).
