Honolulu County

Administrative district in north-central Hawaii; area 1,544 sq km/596 sq mi, population (1990) 836,200. With its seat at Honolulu, it includes the island of Oahu – the commercial, cultural, governmental, and population centre of the state – as well as a number of small, outlying islands to the northwest, such as Kaula, Kure, French Frigate Shoal, Gardner Pinnacles, and Necker.
