Honorius, Flavius (AD 384-423)

Roman emperor in the western Roman empire from 395, second son of the emperor Theodosius I. During his reign, Stilicho, a general under Theodosius, was regent and effective ruler of the western provinces until his execution 408. Honorius was now powerless against the Gothic invaders and Rome was sacked by Alaric 410.
