Hooten, Earnest (Albert) (1887-1954)

US physical anthropologist. He was a professor at Harvard, where his laboratory became a centre for training physical anthropology specialists. His many popular books introduced human anatomical evolution to a non-academic readership. His occasionally controversial research concentrated on classifying human races and relating physical characteristics to behaviour.

He was born in Clemansville, Wisconsin.
