Hopkinsville

City and administrative headquarters of Christian County, southwest Kentucky, USA, 134 mi/215 km southwest of Louisville; population (2000) 30,100. Situated in a rich agricultural region, it is a marketplace for tobacco and livestock. Industries include the manufacture of lighting fixtures, satellite antennae, and wire.

Hopkinsville was founded in 1797, and incorporated as a city in 1897.
