prostate cancer

Cancer of the prostate gland. It is a slow progressing cancer, and about 60% of cases are detected before metastasis (spreading), so it can be successfully treated by surgical removal of the gland and radiotherapy. It is, however, the second commonest cancer-induced death in males (after lung cancer). It kills 32,000 men a year in the USA alone.

Symptoms include a frequent need to urinate, with weak, painful, and interrupted urine flow.
