Hornchurch

Town within Greater London, England; population (2001) 12,600. Hornchurch lies 22 km/14 mi east of central London, and is partly agricultural, partly industrial and residential.

The Royal Air Force station, now disused, was one of the principal fighter airfields for the defence of London during the Battle of Britain in World War II.
