Hough, Jerry F (1935– )

US political scientist whose research focused mainly on Eastern European governments and their transition in the latter part of the 20th century. His books on this theme include Soviet Leadership in Transition 1980 and The Polish Crisis: American Policy Options 1982.

Born in Salina, Kansas, he taught at the University of Illinois, Urbana 1961–68, the University of Toronto 1968–73, and Duke University in 1973. He was named a staff member of the Brookings Institute in 1979 and director of Investment & Communication at Duke's Center on East-West Trade in 1987.
