Howard, Bryce Dallas

    0.06 sec.

Howard, Bryce Dallas (1981– )

US actor. Her breakthrough film role was as a young blind girl in M Night Shyamalan's supernatural thriller The Village (2004). Like her father, actor and director Ron Howard, she is known for her innocent, all-American image. The Village propelled her to international stardom, and she went on to star in Lars von Trier's Manderlay (2005) the following year.

Her feature film debut was in the indie film Book of Love (2004), which was aired at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival. The Village gave her the chance to act opposite experienced Hollywood actors William Hurt, Adrien Brody, and Joaquin Phoenix.

She was born in Dallas, Texas, and attended the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, as well as the Stella Adler Conservatory to study acting. She acted on stage in several off-Broadway productions, and it was her performance in William Shakespeare's As You Like It that gained the attention of Shyamalan. Other plays include Molière's Tartuffe and Alan Ayckbourn's House and Garden.
