Yellow Emperor

Mythical Chinese ruler said to have had 25 sons who were the ancestors of the Chinese people. Culture and civilization are said to have developed during his reign (including the first use of boats, carriages, money, and musical instruments) and he was the legendary originator of the philosophy of Taoism.

Huang Ti's philosophy, which was partly derived from dream travel to distant regions inhabited by spirits, was based on the theory that there are three dimensions: Heaven, Earth, and the cycle of the five elements (metal, fire, air, soil, and water) whose movements keep all in balance.

Although Huang Ti is still popular and revered, he is not regarded by historians as having factual origin.
