Hubbardton

Town at the northern end of Lake Bomoseen, in Rutland County, west-central Vermont; population (1990) 580. A hilly resort community, it was the site of the only battle of the Revolutionary War to be fought in Vermont, on 7 July 1777, when Americans under Seth Warner were defeated by the British under Simon Fraser.
