Hubbert, M(arion) King (1903–1989)| US geologist who taught geology at Columbia University 1931–41, worked as a researcher and consultant for Shell Oil 1943–63, and was a geophysicist for the US Geological Survey 1964–76 while concurrently serving as a visiting professor at major US universities. His studies on the physics of subterranean fluid movement led to revolutionary changes in oil and gas production technology. |
