Huber, Klaus (1924- )

Swiss composer. His music combines avant-garde techniques with a strong religious awareness.

He studied with Willy Burkhard at the Zürich Conservatory and with Boris Blacher in Berlin, Germany. From 1950 he taught violin in Zürich and from 1960 music history at the Lucerne Conservatory.

Voices, chorus, and orchestra

cantata for voices and four instruments Des Engels Anredung an die Seele (1957), oratorio Mechthildis for alto voice and chamber orchestra (1957), Auf die ruhige Nacht-Zeit for soprano and chamber group (1958), Soliloquia for soloists, chorus, and orchestra, Spes contra spem for voice, narrator, and orchestra (1988).
