Hudd, Roy (1936– )

English actor and comedian. He gained wide recognition in the radio shows Workers' Playtime and The News Huddlines (1976), before making his television break in the satirical BBC series Not So Much a Programme, More a Way of Life (1964). He later had his own series, Hudd, and played character roles in the Dennis Potter serials Lipstick on Your Collar (1993) and Karaoke (1996), and in the soap opera Coronation Street (2002).

Hudd was born in Croydon, Surrey. He grew up on music-hall entertainment, and played banjo and sang in clubs, before becoming a holiday-camp entertainer. After making his name with the comedy duo Hudd and Kay, he turned solo and commenced his long career in radio.
