Hugh the Drover, or Love in the Stocks

Opera by Ralph Vaughan Williams (libretto by Harold Child), first produced at the Royal College of Music, London, on 4 July 1924. It tells how the itinerant Hugh wins Mary in a boxing contest and both are released from the stocks to lead a wandering life.
