Hula-Hoop

Trade name of a circular band used for exercise and recreation, about 1 m/3 ft in diameter, that can be spun around the body by slight movements of the waist and hips. So named because of the resemblance of the movements to the Hawaiian hula dance, hula hoops were a worldwide craze in the 1950s.
