Hunter's Point

Name of two urban industrial areas, in the US cities of San Francisco and New York. Hunter's Point in San Francisco, one of the city's few heavy industrial zones, is located on the bay and has long been the site of extensive drydocks and shipyards. A huge naval repair base was constructed here during World War II, but the area has since suffered decline. In New York City, Hunter's Point is situated in the far west of Queens, on the East River opposite the United Nations building in Manhattan, and is famous for the huge Pepsi-Cola sign that stands on the waterfront.
