Hunterdon County

Administrative district of northwestern New Jersey; area 1,103 sq km/426 sq mi, population (1990) 107,800. Hunterdon County is bounded on the west by the Delaware River, and has its seat and main commercial centre at Flemington.

Hunterdon County has traditionally been an agricultural region, producing vegetables, fruit, poultry, and dairy goods. However, in recent years its convenient yet rural setting has attracted corporations to relocate their headquarters here, and the county is becoming a growing residential suburb. Clustered around its centre are the state parks of Voorhees, Spruce Run, and Round Valley.
