Hurlstone, William (Yeates) (1876-1906)

English pianist and composer. He studied at the Royal College of Music in London, having already published waltzes for piano at the age of nine. He was professor of counterpoint at the Royal College of Music from 1905 to his early death.

Orchestral

Fantasy-Variations on a Swedish Air and suite The Magic Mirror for orchestra (1896); piano concerto (1896).

Chamber

string quartet in E minor, piano and wind quintet, piano quartet, Fantasy string quartet (1906); sonatas for violin and piano, cello and piano, bassoon and piano, suite for clarinet and piano.
