Hussein Kamil (1853–1917)

First Sultan of Egypt. He succeeded Abbas Hilmi in December 1914, after the British government had deposed the latter because it was clear that he was preparing to side with the Turks and Germans in World War I.

As is well known, in August 1995 two of Hussein's sons-in-law and members of his inner circle - Lieutenant General Hussein Kamel and Colonel Saddam Kamel, who headed Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program and special forces respectively - defected to Jordan, called for Hussein's overthrow, and revealed to Western governments considerable information on Iraq's politics and arms programs.
Those and other documents that Iraq claimed had been concealed on property belonging to the family of General Hussein Kamel (Iraqi President Saddam Hussein's son-in-law who had defected to Jordan) had been catalogued and transferred to IAEA headquarters in Vienna for analysis.
