Hutier, Oskar von

    0.01 sec.

Hutier, Oskar von (1857–1934)

German general. During the capture of Riga September 1917, he developed the tactic of using small armed parties of well-trained infantry to infiltrate the enemy positions, outflank and turn them, and thus force gaps for larger parties to follow up; this was assisted by well-planned artillery support devised by his artillery commander Col Bruchmuller.
