Hyannis

Village within the town of Barnstable, Barnstable County, southeastern Massachusetts; population (1990) 14,100. Hyannis stands on Cape Cod, and is the commercial centre of the Cape; the airport serving the area is also located here. In the village of Hyannis Port, to the south, is the summer home of the family of the assassinated president John F Kennedy. A memorial to Kennedy stands in Hyannis.
