| Louis Schlapbach, a physicist at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland, calls Griessen's original experiment "a clever idea, which proves that the [current] theory of metal-to-nonmetal transition in rare earth hydrides is correct. Compared to re-chargeable metal hydrides, one-time use chemical hydrides provide higher energy densities at a dramatically reduced weight. They recommend that chemists try to make closed boron hydrides using lasers to vaporize a calcium boron compound in the presence of hydrogen. |
