Hydrus

Constellation of the south polar region, represented as a water snake. It is quite separate from the equatorial constellation Hydra. Beta Hydri is the nearest bright star to the south pole.

Hydrus

Fabulous water snake or water weasel. Its Greek name is related to that of the English otter described in bestiaries as covering itself with mud in order to slip down the crocodile's throat and destroy the creature from inside, itself emerging unharmed.
