hypospadias

In medicine, relatively rare birth deformity affecting male infants, in which the urethral opening is in the wrong place on the penis. It is corrected by surgery.

In humans, concern has been focused on endocrine-disrupting chemicals with either estrogenic or antiestrogenic effects, which may be related to an increasing incidence of hypospadia in newborn boys (Dolk 1998; Paulozzi 1999).
A birth defect in baby boys called hypospadia, which is a shortening of the urethra that requires surgery to correct, has doubled in this country in the past 20 years.
