Ibagué

Capital of Tolima department, west-central Colombia, 130 km southwest of Bogotá at the foot of the Quindío Mountains in the Andes; population (2005) 465,900. It is a market town and acts as a trading centre of cattle and coffee from surrounding districts. Leather goods and a local drink, mistela, are produced here. Ibagué has a Conservatory of Music, and hosts the annual National Folklore Festival.
