Ifigenia in Aulide

Title of several 18th-century operas with libretti based ultimately on Euripides. The opera by Antonio Caldara (libretto by A Zeno) was first produced in Vienna, Austria, on 4 November 1718. Karl Graun's opera (libretto by L de Villati, after Racine's Iphigénie en Aulide) was produced at the Royal Opera, Berlin, Germany, on 13 December 1748. Frederick II of Prussia probably collaborated. Niccolò Zingarelli's opera (libretto by F Moretti) was produced at La Scala, Milan, Italy, on 27 January 1787. Luigi Cherubini's opera (libretto by F Moretti) was first produced at the Teatro Regio, Turin, Italy, on 12 January 1788.
