Ik Onkar

Sikh statement that ‘God is one’. It is formed from two letters in Gurmukhi script, and is often used as a symbol. It is the first statement of the ‘Mool Mantra’, which sums up Sikh belief about the nature of God.

He worked at a textile mill in Dewsbury and then for Huddersfield taxi companies Ik Onkar and GT Taxis before joining Streamline several years ago.
A reader mentioned last week that he was hidden in the stonework frieze on the Estates Office building in Railway Street, immediately above the Ik Onkar taxi sign.
