Imai, Nobuko (1943– )

Japanese violist. She studied at Juilliard and was a member of the Vermeer Quartet 1974–79. She pursued a solo career from 1979, including concerts with the London Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Concertgebouw Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra, and Stockholm Philharmonic. Festivals she has attended include Marlboro, Houston, Aldeburgh, and London Proms. She has recorded Tippett's Triple Concerto and Berlioz's Harold in Italy with Colin Davis, Brahms sonatas and music by Schubert and Schumann with Roger Vignoles, and Schnittke's Concerto and the Mozart Sinfonia Concertante with Iona Brown.
