Immelt, Jeffrey (1956- )

US business leader. He became chair of the board and chief executive officer of General Electric (GE), the world's most profitable industrial company, in 2001. He began working for GE in 1982. He was president and CEO of GE Medical Systems (now GE Healthcare) 1997-2000 and president and chair-elect of GE from 2000.

Immelt was named the Financial Times ‘Man of the Year’ in 2003.

After receiving a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics from Dartmouth College in 1978, he received a master's in business administration from Harvard University in 1982.
