Immokalee

Unincorporated community in Collier County, south-central Florida, 50 km/31 mi southeast of Fort Myers; population (1990) 14,100.

Immokalee lies on the northern edge of the Big Cypress Swamp, and is a trading centre for local farms growing tomatoes and other market garden produce. During the growing season, it houses a large number of migrant labourers, many of whom are Mexican.
