Immortal Hour, The

Opera by Rutland Boughton (libretto by the composer, adapted from plays and poems by Fiona Macleod), first produced at Glastonbury, England, on 26 August 1914. It tells how King Eochaidh falls in love with the fairy princess Etain, who cannot remember her true identity. She is later reclaimed by Midir; the Lord of Shadows mercifully kills Eochaidh so that he will not suffer.
