A collective work, of which only Beethoven's song remains known today. In 1808 composers were invited to set this poem by Giuseppe Carpani, probably at the invitation of Countess Rzewuska in Vienna. Among the 63 composers who responded were, apart from Beethoven, Bonifazio Asioli, Luigi Cherubini, Karl Czerny, Ferdinando Paër, Johann Reichardt, Antonio Salieri, Václav Tomášek, Karl Weigl, and Niccolò Zingarelli.
