Index Librorum Prohibitorum

The list of books formerly officially forbidden to members of the Roman Catholic Church. The process of condemning books and bringing the Index up to date was carried out by a congregation of cardinals, consultors, and examiners from the 16th century until its abolition in 1966.

Among the appendices are auction records, and a translation of the 1620 decree of the Inquisition, indicating corrections and deletions to be made in De revolutionibus, after it had been placed on the Index of Prohibited Books in 1616.
Perhaps the most famous banned book list ever is the Catholic Church's now defunct Index of Prohibited Books.
He points out that Lope de Vega, the greatest playwright of the Siglo del Oro, did not appear on Spain's Index of prohibited books until a century after his death.
