| The firm urges companies to make changes in corporate policy; its actions have included pushing oil giant ChevronTexaco to clean up polluted lands on Indian reserves and successfully backing a proposal at steelmaker Nucor to include gay and lesbian workers in the company's nondiscrimination policy. Her late husband Bill joined her in this--not only in travelling to many Indian reserves, but also in creating Return of the Indian Spirit. The survey, conducted between May 2002 and December 2002, collected data from about 37,000 individuals aged 15 years and older throughout Canada with the exception of Indian Reserves, full-time members of the Canadian Armed Forces, health care institutions and remote areas. |
