Ingalls, John James

Ingalls, John James (1833–1900)

US senator. He was among the framers of the Kansas state constitution and served as a Republican for Kansas in the US Senate 1873–92. Renowned for his oratory, he was president pro tem of the Senate 1889–91.

Born in Middleton, Massachusetts, he settled in Kansas territory in 1858.
