Ingenhoven, Jan (1876–1951)

Dutch conductor and composer. He was a choral conductor before he had any systematic musical education, but later studied with Brandts-Buys and with Mottl at Munich, where he conducted both orchestral and choral concerts, as he did later both in Holland and abroad. He also sang tenor and played the piano and clarinet.

Works

three symphonic pieces for orchestra; symphonic fantasy on Nietzsche's Zarathustras Nachtlied (1906) and ballad Klaus Tink for voice and orchestra; three string quartets (1908–12); violin and piano sonata in C major, cello and piano sonata in G major; choruses and vocal quartets; songs, etc.
