Institute of Directors

UK organization formed in 1903, and incorporated by royal charter in 1906, to represent directors of companies. It is a non-party political organization with upwards of 52,000 members (2007) in the UK and overseas.

The IoD provides its members with a range of services including business centre facilities, conferences, networking events, and information and library services. It has also established a certified qualification for directors (Chartered Director) and runs training and mentoring programmes.
