Institute of Management

Central institution of professional management in the UK, established on government initiative in 1947.

Originally the British Institute of Management, in 1958 it absorbed the Institute of Industrial Administration and in 1978 received the Institution of Works Managers as an affiliate, later incorporating it and adopting the title Institute of Management. It has over 11,000 corporate and 60,000 individual members and, as well as representing managers, provides conference, training, education, and consultancy services.
